Skills-Base is an assessment tool. It has been configured to reflect all levels of training available from the Training.gov.au web site relating to the agricultural industry.

We understand most people working in the agricultural sector historically grew up on the land and consequently would wonder how these training modules apply.

Quite simply, we have taken the training modules and applied them to defined Roles using the descriptions from the Training.gov.au website.

While the person in a particular Role may never have had a formal course, they have been fulfilling the tasks listed in that training module, and subsequently can assess themselves using the modules definition.

After logging in to the site, click on the \"Member Portal\" item in the top level menu. This will present a drop down menu from which you select the \"Skills-Base\" item. On the next page click on the \"Skills-Base\" link and it will take you to your summary page in the system. If this is your first time logging in, you will be asked to select a role and the team you are working for.

If you do not have a position with a company, or a specific role, please select \"None\" and \"No Role\" respectively, in order to complete your registration in Skills-Base.

When you complete the registration you can begin populating your profile with existing qualifications, certifications, licences and your CV.

Go to the My Summary page and click on the \"action\" button in the top right hand corner and select \"edit person\". This will take you to your list of personal attributes. Go to each of the following fields and enter data for each category - Outcomes & Goals, Purpose, Values, Vision & Mission. Once complete click on \"save\" at the bottom and you will be returned to your \"My Summary\" page. A new panel will now be displayed at the foot of the summary page containing each of the attributes.

How Do I Identify A Skills Gap?

This is a two step process.

The individual conducts a self-assessment against their skill categories
The employer conducts an employee assessment against the same skill categories

These two actions highlight where there is a gap in skills required for the Role and what training is available to close the gap.

Each Skill has an alphanumeric precursor which is directly related to the training module and can be used to search for which TAFE/Education centre nearest your location is offering the training.

There is also a directory of the Courses available with links to the Training.gov.au website, as well as to education centres that are offering the training.

The Course directory is a work-in-progress as courses change, and education centres have to change to align themselves, but some centres still offer the previous version of the course prior to its expiry.
